This video features a bunch of small mechanics oddities and a lot of wasted skip ideas.

0:00 - normally you can't do Witch's Embrace during the chase scene of Episode 2. However, if you spam L2+X during the loading time, you can just barely do one as the level begins. But... this is pointless because the boss isn't an enemy target during the chase scene, so your attack hits nothing.

0:26 - if you do Witch's Embrace with X button in front of a certain type of loading zone prompt, you skip the forced loading. This makes the game send Heinrich & Gretchen to the next environment before its textures have fully loaded, which looks pretty special. This trick seems harmless otherwise.

(Note 1: the loading zone that's needed for this glitch is a pretty rare one. I call these "soft loading zones", and I recall them only existing in maybe two levels in the game. Episode 10 and maybe Episode 18.)

(Note 2: you can also skip the loading by entering menu as you examine the door. This is actually a viable speedrun tactic, saving a few seconds.)

0:54 - you can break out of the door kicking animation in at least two ways. One is to inch towards the door prompt in air and then examine it while falling.

1:02 - another is doing a magic which affects Heinrich's animations with X while standing next to the door.

1:12 - if you interrupt some of the grab attacks with Witch's Embrace at a correct time, the move interrupts so that Heinrich's weapon remains unfolded while it returns on his back. This seems to be a graphical oddity and becomes fixed if you do any actions.

1:37 - now starts the "wasted potential" block of this video.

In Episode 1, you can pretty easily skip the Straeggele boss fight by going through a wall. But the level's exit trigger doesn't exist until you've fought the fight.

2:28 - in Episode 6, you can reach the final wheel of the level early by going OoB and exploding Heinrich with Spirit Cannon. But (like established previously) the final area isn't fully loaded at the moment, so it lacks actors and prompts, including the wheel. What makes this all the more frustrating is that you COULD force the game to fully load the area if you could go through the nearby loading zone... but you need Gretchen to do this. And so far there isn't a way to get both Heinrich and Gretchen to the final part of the level early.

3:31 - in Episode 9, I tried if the door leading to final wing would open up if you had skipped the Minukelsus rescue. It doesn't.

4:07 - in Episode 9, I tried skipping the spiders fight after Minukelsus is rescued by exploding Heinrich off the side of the stairs. But this doesn't work either... the spider fight trigger must be really large, and is always hit regardless.

4:38 - in Episode 12, you can get knocked down to the area below early by enemy attacks (or Minukelsus' exploding potion). This might lead to a fight skip otherwise, but there's death collision on the way which always kills Heinrich if he tries to use this shortcut.

5:02 - in Episode 12, there's a barrier right in front of a climbing wall. I tried to do a high jump up the barrier using the nearby rubble, but the walls are just too high to get across.
