A menu loophole I noticed while playing on the unpatched PS4 version. Basically, whenever there's a cutscene of a document being read, you can overlap Pause-menu with the cutscene by pressing "examine" and "pause" simultaneously. This can cause a few different effects.

0:00 - This is how it looks like when first starting the glitch. The game will seemingly freeze at first, but if you enter and exit PS4-menu, the document reading will then resume in the background.

You still don't have a control of the Pause-menu, though. You can regain control at certain points like dialogue choices. In most cases the control isn't perfect, as both the dialogue options and Pause-menu are read simultaneously and the menu constraints from both menu can limit the selector movement.

If the screen reads "skip" (indicating you've seen the cutscene already), you seemingly regain control much earlier. It's likely the "skip" prompt almost works like a dialogue choice in itself and keeps d-pad unlocked during the cutscene.

So, what can you do with all this?

0:56 - first of all, what can't you do with it. In all of my tests, quitting game or choosing another chapter while menus were overlapped and the cutscene was playing resulted in no weird effects at all.

1:01 - if you choose "resume" from inside the Pause-menu at any point, you regain control of your character while reading the document. This lets you move around the asylum while reading, which COULD in some circumstances work as a speedrun tactic, I figure.

However, in this example it just results in a softlock. This is because the document cutscene cannot progress without player input and you have lost the ability to give it input. You also can't open menus or examine prompts in the game world, so all you can do is walk around aimlessly & stuck until you reset the game.

(Note: another factor that makes this discovery somewhat less triumphant is the fact that the current any% route for this game is so broken that it doesn't even feature a single document reading cutscene. So this glitch would only come in handy in some select few situations in a 100% run, maybe...)

1:39 - overlapped Chapter Select-screen. Most buttons didn't work and I became stuck inside the Chapter Select, with the only options being to move up and down over Chapter 6 and pressing X. Loading Chapter 6 was the only way to continue playing.

2:03 - just for curiosity I tried using this exploit in Chapter 5 to save time. Sadly, the doors leading to the yard are locked all the way until all dialogue from the cutscene is over.

(Not on the video: if you enter Options-menu and "apply" any changes, the document reading cutscene pauses in the background. I didn't notice this causing any additional glitch effects, though.)
