XL1-ClippingPoint / Clipping Point (2007) - Every PC F1 Game
XL1-ClippingPoint / Clipping Point by XL Games/Neowiz, 2007.
Clipping Point was a Korean online racing game developed in 2006. It never quite got released, so a single player version was given away for free in 2007 (I believe).
Recently, the game has resurfaced on Steam as a free-to-play title, under the name XL1-ClippingPoint, which is what I'm using here, as it has fixed captions in-game (the original was only half translated!). Content-wise, they're pretty identical, apart from some bug fixes on the Steam version (and online possibilities).
There are two F1-like cars in the game, a red one and a pink one! I've alternated between the two. All the tracks are fictional, so I've tried to find some that look (a bit) like the real-life tracks mentioned below!
1. Race Start (Monza): 0:00 I wasn't able to turn off any of the overlays, so it looks a bit crazy. Cars enjoy kicking up smoke and dust, but it doesn't seem to affect their self-shadowing effect! The game also likes to use bloom/glow/motion blur effects!
2. Spray Effects (Silverstone): 0:34 I used a wide city track here, it's a bit grey but doesn't actually rain. The replay mode does allow you to turn off the overlays.
3. Tunnel & View (Monaco): 0:54 There are some tunnels in some of the tracks, but I used this city circuit, as it felt slightly like Monaco.
4. Wet Track (Spa-Francorchamps): 1:07 Again, there's no wet weather, but I found a bit that's slightly like Eau Rouge!
5. Pitstop (Interlagos): 1:23 Pitstops are pretty boring, and they're only for fuel/oil/tyres, as there's no car damage in the game.
6. Huge Crash (Montreal): 1:44 Crashes can be a bit bland, with no damage. The "Drift Point" caption should have been switched off, but I missed it!
