On the first unmanned mission to Dres, the ARD-1I, an interplanetary version of the previously tested Asteroid Redirect Device, uses an extended xenon reserve and an efficient upper stage to boost itself to Dres after some maneuver node issues. A long ion engine burn puts it into orbit.
After a close few orbits to view Dres from up close, the ARD-1I returns to a high orbit to rendezvous with a massive 1900 TON Class E asteroid. From here, Dres is visible but small. The probe docks with the asteroid and awaits the future arrival of a mining ship at the net transfer window.
