Last Scenario is a role playing game made in RPGMaker by SCF. A rather typical kind of rpg, but with enough twists and an interesting story to make the journey well worth taking.

The latest version of the game can always be found here:

Back into the throne room and to the east is another hallway. The nearby door to the north doesn't contain anything of worth, but continuing east leads to a staircase going down into the next dungeon, the Temple of Gaia.

The new enemies aren't super strong, but a couple can throw out some annoying status ailments like Apparitions (Deep Shadow, damages & blinds the entire party) or Blue Oculs (Hypnosis inflicts sleep on a target, Soul Stare does light damage to a target and inflicts chaos).

Special mention goes to the Gaia Apparition. Its normal attack is nothing special, but Rain of Terror hits everyone, itself included, for dark damage totaling up to 250-300 points worth. It has Meteor Shells to steal which sell for a nice sum at shops and with six of its namesake Hex tiles, will trade in for something quite nice at the trading post.

The main gimmick to this dungeon is a couple rooms with a singular switch inside. Examine these and the room shifts 90 degrees (though it won't be readily apparent right away after hitting the switch). There's multiple exits from each of these rooms, something I didn't catch on to at first so I had to backtrack. To boot, I actually miss one the treasure chests here due to not exploring every hallway thoroughly. I will have to pass back through here soon though.

As for the treasure report, it's as follows...

Ritual Mask (helmet with no special properties beyond its defenses)
Sky Coat (light armor that absorbs wind)
Snow Amulet (Accessory that absorbs ice, is the one chest I missed in this video)

Finally, the most important treasure before the boss, a spellcard named Mindblow. Costs 25 mp to damage the mp of a single target. Its crisis ability, Fairy Wind, costs 1 mp to drain a small amount of mp from a target and give it to the party.

When you hit the second save point, make sure to equip that Mindblow spellcard, then head east to ram into the boss of this area, a pack of five Viviones.

At first glance, the Viviones don't seem like anything special. They have a normal attack for ~150 damage and Gaia's Roots, a magic attack that does a fair bit over 200 damage and inflicts amnesia. Both of those attacks are single target. It can get dicey if they gang up on a target, but you can always throw up some kind of shield buff if you want.

Stat wise, each Vivione possesses 2000 hp, 180 mp, resists water, wind, light, and dark while being immune to earth. They also each have a Panacea to steal and drop a Serpent Fang after the fight concludes.

So, this fight should be a cinch, right? Well, the Viviones have a much more annoying gimmick at hand, namely the ability to sandbag like nobody's business. If one dies, a specific one will cast Revive to resurrect the fallen comrade. You can't kill them all at once either due to their high res, resistance to every multi target elemental attack you have besides M-Fireball, and the fact they're very likely to cast Heal when damaged.

At first, this all seems like a massive annoying pain in the ass, but there's two things that make this much easier to manage. First, 180 mp max that gets drained by every use of Heal, Revive, and Gaia's Roots means you can stack Mindblow casts on top of it to drain each one's mp dry. Of course, that would take an insanely long time to do which is why point #2 makes this gimmick easy to manage.

You see, while they do cast their sandbag magic, they do it in a specific fashion. The top most Vivione only heals & revives the Vivione to the right, then so on and so forth in a clockwise fashion. In that sense, you merely have to cut off the head by picking one target to completely drain of mp, then hold off on killing that target while you kill the others one by one in a clockwise fashion.

More next time!
