For my first September I decided to celebrate the coming of the autumn by venturing out of my comfort zone and try a game in a genre that is not exactly my cup of tea - psychological horror.
I've read some good things about Layers of Fear, and now, after playing the game a bit, I can confirm that they are true.
Evidently the authors use some good old horror tricks manipulating the surrounding via the sound and the visuals, but they work. Besides, the story is intriguing, and I couldn't help but get immersed in the game while collecting the fragments of the truth.
The performance on Linux is great. The only (minor) problem I've had is that the game started in some kind of a weird windowed mode despite detecting my screen resolution correctly, but I managed to solve this by changing the mode to Windowed and then back to Full Screen.
Be aware that this video contains some minor spoilers for the story, which was inevitable in this case.
