*I had to post this video a day sooner than I typically post videos (i.e., Monday's & Friday's). Excited to share this one with you!

I'm sure you have heard a lot about learned helplessness before, especially on this channel. I find the topic quite interesting and helpful to many of my clients. When I describe learned helplessness, low motivation and anhedonia, and depression symptoms it appears something "clicks" in the minds of my clients. They realize that their motivation, or lack thereof, is highly controlled by their internal state. Other clients, however, realize that some things are out of their control but they still struggle to accept that.

In this video, I discuss what those differences are and what you can do to get yourself back on track. After a year of burnout following a long-term educational commitment and multiple counseling jobs in urban/low socioeconomic areas, I realized that I could cope with a lot of the stress I was feeling just by changing my environment and my perspective, learning to accept things as they were, and allowing the stress to do its natural work.

I offer tips on how to kickstart this process.
