Leisure Suit Larry Goes Looking for Love (in Several Wrong Places) PC Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A playthrough of Sierra Online's 1988 graphic adventure for the PC, Leisure Suit Larry Goes Looking for Love (In Several Wrong Places), the second game in the LSL series.
This video was recorded with Adlib sound. As nice as the MT32 sounds, I never had hardware that expensive way back, but this music (like it played from an FM Sound Blaster) is a lot more nostalgic for me. I love the way this sounds in FM!
My final score was 500/500.
The overall game is a pretty massive improvement over the original. The engine running it has obviously seen quite an overhaul, strutting around in a much higher display resolution, more plentiful and fluid animations, and the endlessly convenient way the game pauses while you're typing in commands. The text parser is also much more robust this time, accepting a much wider range of commands. I believe the engine it's running on had just been totally overhauled to accommodate King's Quest IV (which also happened to be the first computer game to support music from a sound card).
In the second game, Larry doesn't get stuck bouncing between four plays anymore - every so often the game just uproots you and plants you somewhere entirely new in service of plot, and it gives a lot of variety needed to carry a game that's this much longer and more complex than the original. It's still easy, but it's a lot more adventurous in its gameplay risks. I think it's great! :) Well, except for the parts where you have to walk on very narrow paths. Why, Sierra??
