Throughout the game we’ve been collecting various items which are parts of more powerful equipment or resources which can be fashioned into such. They’ve often off the beaten track, hidden behind difficult encounters or solving optional puzzles. Said items often appear useless at first glance or, in the base case scenarios, are outclassed by equipment you already have, but their true power is only realised when we bring them to Cromwell and have him work his smithing magic upon them. He’s fashioned some of our mightiest equipment in the past, the two suits of dragon scale armour being just two examples of his masterful handiwork, but there’s one thing that will outshine all of them when it’s created: Crom Faeyr.

We have three of the four items required for Cromwell to forge that legendary weapon: the hammer of thunderbolts, gauntlets of ogre power and the Crom Faeyr scroll are in our possession, but we lack a girdle of Frost Giant strength. The girdle is a mighty magical item in its own right, conferring a huge strength boost to any who wear it. Those who don’t have a person that uses hammers would do well to keep the belt but we have such a warrior, so it’s off to the second of the three dungeons leading off from the Underdark gave to clear it out for loot, experience and that all-important magic item.
