Let’s Play HC Minecraft Take Three #05: Back into the Depths

We need more iron to finish off our farm and our armour set, so it’s off we go back into the depths of the earth to mine. Our new equipment makes this a less risky endeavour but we can never afford to let our guard down. Zombies and skeletons still pack a hefty punch and I’m sure I don’t need to tell you how devastating a creeper detonation would be for us. Ambushes can lie in wait around every gloomy corner and escape gets further away the deeper down we delve.
The most dangerous part of the large caverns that snake underground isn’t the enemies however, but getting lost. It’s easy to get turned around and led in circles, passing by the same rock formations over and over all while your hunger bar steadily depletes and enemies slowly whittle your health down. My past playthroughs of the game are testament to the perils of not knowing your way out, which is why coming up with a method of navigating to the surface safely is essential. Everyone has a different method and none are perfect – least of all mine – but if it gets you out of the caverns alive then it’s a success.
