Let’s Play BG2 EE #165: Dealing with the Mini Dungeons
66There are two mini dungeons on the fourth floor, each of which is filled with a type of foe we’ve faced before in the game. Exploration of both of these is mandatory, for they contain items needed to solve the torch puzzle in the main area of the fourth floor. While there are a handful of traps you need to watch out for, the main focus of both mini dungeons is combat, something our party is very well versed in.
I’d go so far as to say that the fourth floor is a lot easier than the third, for most of the compulsory encounters are a lot easier. This is in part due to magic functioning normally on the fourth level, though that’s not to say this place doesn’t have its tricky combats. It certainly does, including two very dangerous fights that are fortunately optional. I haven’t made my mind up yet on what I want to do about one of them, but the other is something I’m super wary of dealing with due to the many times it obliterated me in the past. Perhaps I’ve improved enough at the game to take it on, but one can never be certain of that.
