Let’s Play BG2 EE #164: Exploring the Fourth Floor
72The fourth floor is the first in Watcher’s Keep that has sizeable sub levels that you need to explore. Each of them has perils all their own but they aren’t as expansive or dangerous as the full blown dungeons were earlier in the game, for the enemies within are ones that we’ve faced before. That doesn’t mean we should get complacent however; we saw on our arrival to this level just how devastating even relatively easy enemies can be when they seize the initiative.
As with many of the dungeons in this game, the fourth level is a large scale scavenger hunt. What you need to do to progress is very obvious provided you’re the least bit observant, not to mention there are a couple of people that you can talk to to figure out your next course of action. I wouldn’t recommend discussing this with Carston, the self-appointed ‘lord of the level’, for that’s likely to earn you a lightning bolt to the face of an otherwise avoidable combat, though the latter might be a decent source of experience provided you’re willing to cycle through conversations with him over and over again. There are better methods on this floor alone, however, so we’ll give chatting to him a hard pass and see what we can discover during our exploration.
