Let’s Play Black Mesa #31: Beware the Red Beam of Doom

In most games, red beams are bad news. If they’re not lasers that’ll burn you, they’re the telltale sign of someone aiming their sights at you from a safe vantage point. Snipers rely on their concealed positions and accuracy to eliminate their foes in a single shot which should be relatively easy to do in our case on account of no wearing a helmet. Fortunately for us, however, the snipers that came with the marines only appear able to hand body shots, though each of those eat through our health and armour at a quite rapid pace.
The best way to deal with them is to follow the red laser back to its source to find where they’re hiding and blow that up with a large amount of explosives. The dumb fire mode of the missile launcher is well suited to this, ensuring you expose yourself for as little time as possible. Grenades can also work but they require either for you to be really great at predicting the throwing arc or getting very close, the latter of which is very dangerous.
