Let’s Play Black Mesa #30: Have Some Missile!
141This is a blind playthrough. Kindly avoid posting spoilers in the comments or solutions to puzzles either in this video or future ones so as not to spoil the experience for me or those that haven’t seen the game before.
Now that we have the missile launcher, our damage output just increased a whole lot. Possessing both a dumb fire and guided mode, it can be utilised as a ‘fire and forget’ room clearer or a precise munition for groups a long way away. While you can never carry very much ammunition for it, the game is quite generous in providing you with rockets whenever it thinks you’ll need them and even the most dangerous groups of aliens or marines won’t need more then a few missiles. This of course presumes that they’re close together, though the splash damage of the missiles is quit significant.
What the missile launcher excels at, however, is taking out vehicles. We’ve already seen what it can do to a helicopter but the marines also brought tanks and APCs. Both are pretty much immune to our small arms fire, making the missile launcher the ideal weapon to take them out. Just remember not to remain in their line of fire too long, lest you get taken out by their formidable armaments.
