Let's Play Doom - E2M1 - Deimos Anomaly
0Finding another convenient spot to record a Doom stream, we now are checking out Episode 2. Finally past the shareware, this level serves as a way to get us back in the game while introducing us to a few new things that become prevalent going forward. It is rather linear, but the action is rather decent, though I find the area with the Demons to be rather tedious.
We get introduced to one of two weapons only seen in the full version of the game, the other not being seen until Episode 3. The one introduced in a secret area here is the Plasma Gun, basically a rapid fire weapon that is less accurate than the Chaingun but it a lot more powerful, meaning it is great for usage against the increasing legions of Barons. These use Energy Cells, which are also found in the secret area. The standard Energy Cell is here, but not the larger variety, meaning that we still have one more type of Ammo to be introduced to.
This level is also the introduction of the Cacodemon, which is pretty much a balloon that collects bullets. They take a lot to die, don't dish much out, and tend to generally just slow up progress. Not exactly my favorite enemy, they will result in levels taking a bit more time to complete than the first episode.
