Let's Play The Elder Scrolls Arena Blind - Part 20 - Lair of the Spiders
We make it to floor 2 of Selene's Web, which is a bit shorter in size to the first floor, at least in appearance. Of course, the map is made up of a lot of confined corridors, so we end up with plenty of exploration to do.
This floor has a bit more gold and a massive amount of enemies, making this floor yet another one that is pretty deadly with little reward beyond the XP of the dead foes. We also bump into a decent amount of humans for whatever reason, I guess they are the spider worshippers.
Speaking of spiders, this place definitely makes me rethink how many spiders we have dealt with prior to this part. We end up facing armies of spiders in this part, sometimes having to fight five at once, and rarely moving more than a few inches without bumping into yet another spider. Hellhounds in inconvenient spots also are a thing, plus some Wraiths near the end. meaning we have plenty of stuff to kill us.
We find an area on the map that looks like it comes from the set of Aliens, we find an area with a sound glitch that makes it sound like I am dropping in water, and we find a bunch of passageways that are entirely useless. Seriously, this map has a bunch of stuff (usually empty rooms or rooms with one enemy), but only one corner of the map matters to acquire our goal.
Eventually we work our way into a Training Area where the spiders and humans intensify a great deal, plus has those Wraiths I mentioned earlier. Making our way through a cluster of rooms where enemies can come at us from all sides, we make our way to a decent sized room at the back. By jumping over a wall in the middle of the room, we are able to acquire the Diamond Key, which will unlock the Aliens set piece.
We then make our way back to this room, where we find the Heart of Davy Jones (Selene). This means this is the first dungeon without riddles since Stonekeep, it feels like this was a pretty straightforward place with a bunch of extra areas that were pretty useless. Plus this is the third dungeon to feature spiders, so they are definitely getting old rather fast. In any event, all we need to do now is make our way back out of the dungeon.
Sadly, this part had me pushing the battery life on my headphones to try to get as far as I could into Selene's Web. Right after I finish reading the text for Selene's Heart, my headphones completely die, meaning we will have to save the return trip for next time. As I have said, the return voyage is pretty straight forward, so we shouldn't have too many problems if nothing unexpected happens.
This means that the final four minutes is pretty much me writing out text on the Twitch stream just to say my farewells, with a brief period where I am able to talk again, only to be cut out a few seconds later. As I suggested, this was bound to happen, though I didn't expect to get so close to finishing the dungeon before it happened. Welcome to the land of Murphy's Law.
