Let's Play: Ion Fury - Part 1 - It's Duke Nukem 3D, but without the technical constraints!
Part 1 of my playthrough of Ion Fury.
So I did not buy this game. I did not wishlist this game. I'd never even heard of this game, but my brother bought it for me for my birthday. He did so because apparently he heard it was hard, and punishing me is how he expresses his love? I guess?
Regardless, Ion Fury is a game that is Not Duke Nukem, but also very much is. You play as Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison, a badass cop who's a loose cannon and gets variable results. After a hard day's work, you go out to get sloshed when some terrorists try to take over the city. You pull your gun out and vow to ruin their day for ruining your drink. After that it's all jumping and bullets and horrible one-liners.
Honestly I didn't know what to expect coming into this game, but I gotta say: for something built on the classic engine, Ion Fury's got _a lot_ going on in every map. There are nooks and crannies everywhere, and you are always rewarded for your exploration. The enemies (so far) haven't been too varied but there is still a challenge, especially if you forget to check your corners when entering a room. The game has a strong nostalgia vibe going on, but it actually can and does stand on it's own feet regarding how good it feels to actually play.
I'm looking forward to seeing how bonkers this game actually gets, because you know it can only escalate the action.
