Let's Try: Heartbreak High: A Break-up Simulator
I picked this game up from the Racial Justice bundle from itch.io.
Oh my god, I did not expect to like this game anywhere near as much as I ended up liking it. Heartbreak High is, as it says, a break-up simulator. It is basically a visual dating novel but in reverse. Your goal is to navigate the highschool and break up with everyone, including the principal and the janitor who looks like Mads Mikkelsen for no reason.
You can get through the game in anywhere from 20 - 40 minutes (there's a non-timed option as well for exploring the various branches) and there are a bunch of fantastic twists to all of the breakups. Depending how you act will drastically change how the scenes play out. The writing is amazing, with lines that actually made me burst out laughing, and at the same time also offering you real options to break up like an actual human being. It's legitimately impressive.
This is, and I'm not kidding here, one of the best games I've played this year.
