Let's Play Mafia | Chapter 2: Running Man | Unexpected Trouble
1Welcome back to Mafia, a 2002 narrative-oriented video game telling the tale of Tommy Angelo, a taxi driver as he gets involved with the Italian Mob and eventually starts working for Salieri crime family. The game is divided into various important chapters throughout Tommy's life as he climbs the ranks of the Salieri family and the direction in which fate takes him as he transitions from a peaceful life to one of crime and money. The game is based in the fictional city of Lost Heaven, Illinois and is primarily about driving around in the city with bits and pieces of action thrown here and there. Most notable is the focus on realism during the driving segments where players are expected to follow traffic laws and even have the option of manually setting gears should they choose to.
Having made his decision to continue on with his work, Tommy was just living another day in his safe and peaceful life as a Taxi Driver, delivering customers from one end of the city to the other using various routes and roadways to help him out.
He ultimately decided to take a break near Salieri's bar as he had been driving for quite a while at this point. That is when he was attacked by a couple of the gangsters that he had encountered the other day, who had been chasing Salieri's men. They had memorised his number plate and made it a point to track him down and teach him a lesson so that no one else dared interfere in mob business again.
That is when Angelo decided to take his safety into his own hands and remembering that Salieri's Bar was only a couple of blocks away, he decided to hoof it till there. As soon as he started running, they started shooting at him, and he had to dodge literal bullets as he made his way into the bar, huffing and puffing.
That is ultimately when the rival gangsters also made the mistake of entering the same bar only to never leave again.
While Salieri had taken care of Tommy he was out of a job now for his employer no longer wanted anyone who was involved with the mob. With that, Tommy's only option was to start working for Salieri. And given the allure of all the money that they made, the decision was quite easy.
