Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent | Mission 8: JBA HQ 3 | New York, USA
Welcome to Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent. It is the fourth entry in the Splinter Cell franchise and features Sam Fisher as the protagonist as his daughter's death sends him down a downward spiral until he accepts the riskiest mission of his career: to infiltrate a terrorist organisation as a Double Agent in a mission that is known only to him and his handler, Irving Lambert. The game features Stealth along with the light and shadow mechanics that the franchise is known for even though the light mechanic has been greatly simplified. The game focuses more on scripted events and action-packed sequences rather than a smooth tactical infiltration experience, marking a turning point in the series.
Sam Fisher returned to the JBA headquarters located in New York after planting the first Red Mercury test device on board the Cruise Ship in Cozumel. Now, the JBA wants to test it.
Lambert causes a blackout in the JBA Headquarters to take out the jammers so that he can talk to Sam about their next steps. While the boat has been evacuated of civilians, there are still armed forces on board and the explosion of the bomb would result in the loss of life. The NSA wants Sam to obtain Enrica's abort code so that he can frame her for the job gone bad and maintain trust with the JBA. Of course, the choice of the matter ultimately falls upon Sam.
With that, Emile arrives as soon as the light returns with an important job for Sam. He wants him to decrypt the communications between his associates to see who was behind the attempted attack on his life in Shanghai. In that regard, Sam is to solve a puzzle within half an hour. Sam manages to do it in 10 minutes instead of thirty.
Now, to address the next issue: infiltrating the server room so that he can obtain visual proof of the proposed Red Mercury device. Sam picks the lock into Enrica's clinic to obtain her fingerprints.
He then uses Emile's voice sample to access the JBA's living quarters and then, he sneaks his way into the armoury using Moss's fingerprints. Once that is done, he obtains visual proof of the bomb itself.
But all the going and coming has cost him a lot of time and he must now make haste to reach the station where Emile left him before time runs out.
On his way, he breaks into Enrica's workshop with her still inside and obtains her abort code from her personal computer. With that, he makes it back into the security office.
Emile arrives to find all his associates pleading innocence and calls Sam over for the Cozumel Bomb Test.
At this point, Sam had a choice to make and he chose to frame Enrica for the lack of an explosion. However, choices have consequences and Enrica paid the price with her life. Sam was about to be next, but Emile decided to forgive him instead and went to wondering how he would explain his failures at his next meeting in Kinshasa.
Here is how Sam obtained proof of the Red Mercury device:
