[Mage] Daggerfall Unity [37] | Barenziah's Book | Scourg Barrow | Dragontail Mountains
Welcome back to The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, a role-playing game originally made by Bethesda for the MS Dos. For this playthrough, we are using the Unity remake of the game and a lot of mods to enhance the experience. The game involves navigating the sensitive political landscape of the Illiac Bay, a region of Tamriel on the fictional planet of Nirn comprising of the countries within the bay as well as the various fragmented powers surrounding it on both High Rock and Hammerfell. We have been sent to the place on a mission by our Emperor Uriel Septim VII to investigate two curious instances, the shade of King Lysandus that roams the streets of Daggerfall at night and a letter that he sent to the Queen of Daggerfall a few years ago that never reached her. Despite being a dungeon crawler at heart, Daggerfall places a lot of emphasis upon the player's individual exploration as choosing one among the various political factions in the region as they navigate the complex mess that is the Illiac Bay. In this playthrough, we will be playing as a Spellcaster and will shift our focus towards the Mages' Guild and the Order of Arkay.
Strangeblood receives a letter from Queen Barenziah, asking him for assistance regarding an urgent matter stating that Prince Helseth could vouch for his competency.
When Strangeblood arrived at the court of Wayrest, he found Queen Barenziah in a rather embarrassing position. A writer had been hired to author a biography of her life and he had taken certain creative liberties with the source content and besmirched the name of the empire in the process. Barenziah wanted those chapters suppressed as they were now in the possession of the Orcs of Orsinium and there is no telling what they might try to do with it. She promises information in exchange for the delivery of the chapters as well as the reward of gold.
Given that, Strangeblood sets out for Orsinium, but before he can reach it, an Orc Shaman appears in his vision and tells him that the Necromancers now have the copy of the chapters as they have stolen them from Orsinium.
With the sudden change in destination, Strangeblood does an about turn and heads straight for Dragontail Mountains and straight into Scourg Barrow to look for the chapters. He wagered that The King of Worms would definitely hide the chapters in the most secure place in his stronghold, that is The Rift.
So that's where Strangeblood went dwelling. After some luck, he found a false wall built into the cave which opened to reveal a flywheel on the floor. The flywheel unlocked a gate opposite to the false wall and within it was a host of Liches and Mummies guarding what is presumably something important.
The object of their security turned out to be the very chapters that Strangeblood was looking for. Taking a moment to read them before teleporting back, Strangeblood learned that the real reason that Barenziah wanted the chapters suppressed was that they detailed her private affairs with Emperor Tiber Septim and accounted an abortion of their illegitimate love child.
With that Strangeblood teleported back to Wayrest to learn that the letters that had been looking for ages ago, as already told to him my Morgiah, were with the Orcs of Orsinium. And that was the end of his curiosities in the court of Wayrest.
