Let's Play Pillars of Eternity [36] - Turning In & Woedica
Thanks for tuning in for more Pillars of Eternity gameplay with a moon godlike cipher character. Last episode was a snoozefest through the ogre level of the Endless Paths of Od Nua, but this episode is a return to glory for the gameplay of Pillars of Eternity. Not the story though. It's been a while since we've seen the main storyline, and I'm just going to be honest here. Get used to enjoying the narrative of each individual sidequest because that's what's going to happen for many episodes yet.
Speaking of sidequests, let me explain what I mean by saying that this video is a return to form for the gameplay of Pillars of Eternity (in this playthrough anyway). For the play little while all the gameplay in this video has consisted of my doing sidequests, but I haven't yet turned them in. This means that the plot of each sidequest that I've mostly done but not totally finished is still unresolved. However, this episode is all about turning in the sidequests, closing up those plot threads, and reaping the sweet, sweet rewards.
Among the sidequests we turn in this episode is the Parable of Wael sidequest, whose story involved killing some thieves who stole a scroll from the archives at the Temple of Wael. But them Wael himself spoke to us in some kind of watcher-induced fever dream and told us to bury the scroll under the head of a dragon in the Black Meadow. We actually accomplish that this episode, but what do we get in return? Will the recordkeeper-cum-priestess even believe our story about Wael? Will we gain experience points, riches, loot, lore, back story into the world of Pillars of Eternity? Who knows? Well, I do because I've played it, but also anyone who watched this video.
Also, remember when I said that this episode had nothing to do with the main storyline? I lied. I accidentally walked too close to the Temple of Woedica, and much like Icarus whose wax wings melted when he flew too close to the sun, my claims of totally ignoring the main narrative of Pillars of Eternity in favour of exploring every sidequest went up in flames as I was forced into a cutscene that transitioned into a conversation with an NPC in that selfsame Temple of Woedica.
