Let's Play The Banner Saga [Part 28] - Dundr & Haukstorp
Banner Saga gameplay, but this time it meta gameplay. Not that The Banner Saga has much of a meta game or anything, I just played for an hour without realizing that my recording settings were bad, so now I know what to expect! Haha!
Actually, I never lost as combat in all the gameplay that was lost. I know it's hard to believe, but it's true, I swear. I have this new strategy/tactic for battles in The Banner Saga where I don't kill enemies until the last moment. I just weaken them, but still let them live. I figured this out after I noticed that the enemy team, be they Dredge or human, always get to go the same number of times as you. It's a weird game design choice honestly, because it means the gampelay rewards this kind of counterintuitive behavior. However, I am in it to win it, and if I need to use this strange gameplay mechanic to win it, than so be it, for I am still in it!
Also, Dundr. He's the god of dwarves in The Banner Saga's lore! Okay not exactly, but he created the Varl, maybe. He actually didn't create anyone. It was the loom mother who created everyone, and Dundr just took some of them and gave them beards and taught them how to smith. So basically, The Banner Saga has a pretty cool setting or back story or whatever you want to call it.
But while we're talking about the back story, let's not forget abou the front story. Or as certain uncouth individuals call it, the central narrative of The Banner Saga. We're still trying to meet up with Juno, Eyvind's girlfriend/mentor. But then we ran into the destroyed town of Haukstorp and I made the executive decision to go and kill a few Dredge there. What can I say, we don't make much storyline progress, but combat is fun, too!
