Let’s Play Portal 2 #09: Wheatley’s Cautiously Modest and Sensible Plan

Credit where credit is due, this time around Wheatley has come up with a plan of action that’s both achievable and logical. Removing GlaDOS’s more obvious ways to harm us does a lot to put us on equal terms with the power-mad AI, as we’re most likely to have those thrown at us first. They are far from the only threats however; so astoundingly smart is GlaDOS, we cannot hope to presume that the AI won’t come up with something just as deadly as bullets and toxic gas in a matter of nanoseconds, opening the avenue for our doom once more.
Thinking of something is quite different to having it however. It’s in that small window of GlaDOS not having said thing which we’ll possess the advantage, a single opportunity to defeat the AI once more and make our escape from the lab again. Should GlaDOS have a backup method of eliminating us, that’s when we’ll be in bother once more. It’s best not to think on the millions of ways things could possibly go wrong however and instead focus on the one-in-a-million chance that we prevail and escape the lab with Wheatley in hand. Hope is a powerful motivator, after all.
I have to say, despite my initial doubts and the first failed plan, Wheatley has proven to be very resourceful and helpful along our journey. I hope we get a chance to say that once we’ve free and far, far away from the laboratory, beginning a new adventure into the unknown as friends.
