Let’s Play Rock of Ages 2 #06: ...But None can Stop Atlas for Long
This is a blind playthrough. Kindly avoid posting spoilers in the comments or solutions to puzzles either in this video or future ones so as not to spoil the experience for me or those that haven’t seen the game before.
Last time we faced off against our opponent and lost. While it may be the first time in this game that that’s happened, it’s not the first time in this series and we’d be here all day if we went back through my back catalogue of let’s plays looking for failure. Losing there, however, was a wake-up call that what I did in the first game won’t work in the same way it did in this one. Slowly down your opponent is equally as important as damaging them and, with that in mind, it’s time to change a few things, starting with my boulder selection. What I was missing against Van Gogh was a tiny bit more damage, something that the lion boulder provides.
As for my defences, I’m going to focus them almost exclusively at choke points in the level and those I place will be different to before. The first change will be the use of far less ranged defences; while they’re ideal for levels with long pathways, this level is different in having many ways to circumvent such things by rolling off the path. In their stead I’ll be employing sticky cows to slow down my opponent before my true defences: fireworks cannons, explosives and walls. The former do a decent chunk of damage, cover a wide area – albeit randomly – and appear to deal damage when destroyed. The explosives remain good for damage and both are more likely to do their job well when paired with walls that do a better job of stopping your opponent after the sticky cows.
Whether my grand plan will work or not remains to be seen but if it does, the fireworks cannon will have earned its place amongst my go-to defences for the rest of the game.
