Let’s Play Rock of Ages 2 #04: Regaining an Old Favourite
This is a blind playthrough. Kindly avoid posting spoilers in the comments or solutions to puzzles either in this video or future ones so as not to spoil the experience for me or those that haven’t seen the game before.
Of all the defensive unit types in the first game, the one I enjoyed using the most were the ones which automatically fired the castle catapult at the opposing boulder when they got within range. The AI rarely destroyed them and, when placed at key points, they were great at knocking them off the edges of the course. They were also good ways to rack up damage when used in conjunction with walls and other methods to slow down your foe.
That was the first game however and much has changed since then, namely the speed at which the boulders move. This speed both reduce the amount of time available to bombard the opposing boulder and makes most defences that slow them down less effective, though I can imagine it working well with the new sticky cows. What ultimately makes it less desirable, however, is the fact that you’re much less likely to impact the amount of damage dealt through use of defences, for this is a game much more about racing then it is about defending… at least for the moment. Should the game shift focus in the later levels, at least I’ll have my favourite defensive structure to hold the line while I try to roll to victory.
