Let's Play The Elder Scrolls Daggerfall - Part 48 - Progress and Paralyzation
Continuing right where we left off last time, I return to the tower with the pretty lady to save her from her imprisonment with a random unicorn horn. This is much easier than the first journey, whereby I got entirely lost with Vampire Ancients everywhere, and instead we get some weaker enemies while I try to search for her.
Of course, a big problem with this part is something that has been building up lately. Being paralyzed is an absolutely annoying feature of the game, mainly because so many enemies have it, can cast it instantly, and there is no simple way to prevent it other than finding a lot of random ingredients to craft a 1-time use item. Needless to say, it is frustrating every time it happens and it seems to happen a lot here.
After talking to Medora, the prisoner of Direnni Tower, we pretty much end up with absolutely nothing to do once again. I try to kill a bit of time, but it quickly becomes noticeable that we are going to be stuck all over again. Luckily I have the letters storyline to focus on, since Vorknkx gave me a hint about searching Daggerfall Palace. That leads to a quest to kill a Werewolf in an extremely easy dungeon, but also is perhaps the first real sense of progress I have had in a while.
After that, we get stuck once more until I decide just to ask random people about quests and find another person offering further info if I talk to a courier for the emperor. Of course to find her I need to go to a random town and ask another guy first. He tells me she will be at a palace in 4 days, but the journal entry says 10 days, meaning I am entirely confused when she is showing up or how long she will even be there. We also get pursued by guards and assassins angry at my involvement with the letter, I really want to point fingers at Aubuk-i for making my life a living hell recently.
As might be expected, the ambiguity gets to me and so I have absolutely no idea when this courier will arrive or if she will even be in plain sight. The tenth day signifies something, shown by a bunch of guards trying to murder me for no real reason. But the biggest thing comes in the form of a message from Medora in my dreams (a massive surprise since it requires a lot of hours sleeping), just like in Arena, where I am told to go see the leader of Orsinium, Gortwog, to get a powder that will soothe the ghost of Lysandus.
