Let's Play Ultima I #10: Starting the Third Quest
209The third quest is very much like the other two, save that we need to head even deeper into a dungeon to find the foe we seek. This means fighting more monsters, which means more opportunities to get hurt as we descend further down into the depths. We'll also encounter new monsters, some of whom employ sneaky tactics to get up close while others have other effects as well as dealing damage to the Stranger. We'll need more health than we had before to get to the floor we want to reach and to fight our way back up.
If things get too dangerous for us however we have a more efficient way out in the form of magic spells. Each casting consumes a use of the spell and consumes no mana, making magic more like a single use item then any kind of arcane power. It's still exceptionally useful and I imagine that a wizard would have a lot of power in the early game obliterating enemies with magic missiles, but not even that kind of power can compare with zappy pew pews.
