Now that we’ve escape the hidden MJ12 facility, it’s to being our search of Tracer Tong. Though the size of the area you can look for him in is rather small, this area manages to pack a huge amount of exploration into it. There’s a lot to places to see, many more people to visit and small side stories that will play out for you to observe. What this part of the game may lack in some things it more than makes up for in the sheer wealth of world building and atmosphere, something that can be entirely ignored if you focus too much on your main objective.

Contrary to what the game is telling you, there’s no need for urgency. As the game is event driven, the killswitch never activates. You can explore every nook and cranny of this area, speak to everyone and seek out hidden items without fear of suddenly perishing. Ignore your main objective and let yourself be immersed in the world around you and before you know it, an hour will have gone by, such is the joy of Deus Ex.
