Whether you’re playing control, aggro, tempo or zoo, almost all decks in Hearthstone win by reducing the opponent’s health to zero one way or another. Two of the few exceptions are decks with Mecha’thun and the death knight paladin hero power, but we’re not here to talk about those today. No, the deck I’m going to be showing you today is a thing with as much subtlety as its main gimmick, that being a thing that goes BOOM.

Bomb warrior is far from an unheard of thing for it’s seen in standard, though there it’s a pseudo control deck which relies on cleaning up the opponents threats while dealing lots of bombs into their deck. They may not be drawn right away, but they’re there, waiting. It can make your opponent hesitant to draw cards or try to rush for a quick victory, expending resources inefficiently. While there are ways to diffuse the explosives, they are few and far between, creating a Sword of Damocles that swings ever closer to the head of your foe with each turn.

This is also not the deck I’ve built however. I took a look at the mechanic of shuffling explosive cards and wondered what would happen if you threw away any pretence of being control, head over to wild and make a deck revolving entirely around putting as many bombs and bomb-like cards as possible in your opponents deck. Add to that a sprinkling of charge minions and other things that not only go boom – and happen to have boom in their name – and the result is this very aggressive deck indeed. It may flounder against faster decks and ones which can out heal your damage, not to mention it has terrible card draw problems. But when it works? Oh, when it works… what a beautiful sight it is.
