163The temple is a large level with a lot of winding corridors, most of which are guarded in one form or another. Rushing around in here in a bid to explore the entire floor quickly is a great way to get yourself killed and there's little reason to do so; knowing that there's a mana circle on the previous floor and that most of the guards are stuck to certain areas, you can explore at your own pace provided you pick your fights carefully.
The maximum number of guards you'll face on any one tile is two as opposed to the shargas who can attack you three at a time and none of the sword-wielding guards have ranged weapons, so keeping your distance is definitely recommended. Only engage in melee if you absolutely have to, a lesson that's wise to take to heart through the entire game. Though I haven't remembered it at this point, there's a way to recharge your runecasters even closer then the mana circle on the previous floor, placed there more as a reward for those curious enough to discover how it works, though it's more of a convenience then a vital thing to know. You can go through the entire floor without learning of that secret.
You can also go through the entire level without falling down the pits to the lower area, something that yields few rewards but is worth doing anyway, if only to see just what lies below. If you do, make sure you're ready for a protracted fight.
