Let's Play Broken Sword 2 #02: Oubier's House
235I'd like to say that George has never experienced a situation so deadly and perilous before but he's faced off against an gun-wielding assassin in the middle of a desert armed only with a shock hand buzzer among other equally dangerous scenarios, so that'd be a lie. It makes me wonder why he doesn't carry around a selection of essential items for getting out of typical predicaments a point and click adventure game protagonist gets into; a coin, hammer, metal pipe, golf club, fire berries, alchemists magnet and a stun phaser are all essential pieces of an adventurer's toolkit and all things that George sadly lacks at the moment. Fortunately George is a master at improvising a solution and I'm sure he'll collect a selection of items in no time that may or may not be useful to us in our efforts to rescue Nico and save the world, if it needs saving.
Of course it needs saving. If it didn't there wouldn't be a game.
Those familiar with the first game or point and click adventure games will feel right at home here with how the game plays, exceptionally similar as it is to the first. The art style is still very detailed but has also changed a little bit from the first game, especially in the cutscenes. The pace is also different as unlike in the original, we're being thrown immediately into a problem that not only needs solving imminently but another that we need to rush to solve as well. It's certainly not the slower mystery that I'm more used to from the first game but perhaps later once we've saved Nico that will return.
That is, if we save Nico.
This game follows on from the first game in the series Shadow of the Templars. As such, there are characters and events that originated from there which will either appear or be referenced here without much explanation in game.
