We’ve taken on nearly every kind UFO we can encounter in the game, save for three. The first is the small scout, a vessel manned by a single alien and so tiny that our plasma beams obliterate them with a single direct hit. The second is the abductor, a medium vessel that you don’t often see used that often by the aliens. The third and final one is the battleship, the largest of the alien vessels and the most dangerous. It has the most aliens on it and two floors full of small rooms where aliens can hide out. They’re also difficult to shoot down, outranging the plasma beam and capable of dispatching an interceptor in but a few hits. There’s a weapon that can more safely take on the ship but it’s got limited ammunition and can miss.

The reason I’m mentioning all this is because I don’t often take on battleships. They’re often not worth the effort to shoot down or to take out the aliens that remain within the crashed wreckage. I typically used to lose a number of soldiers doing so as well which doesn’t make up for the all the resources that can be got from them. The generators are far apart which means you’re likely to have at least one survive if you shoot down the battleship but if you manage to find a landed one, there’s a lot of elerium in it for you. Of course, you then need to take on the entire compliment of aliens on the UFO.
