Let's Replay X-COM UFO Defence #60: Making Our Own Doors
184Battleships are the largest and most dangerous of UFOs to take on, especially if you choose to use the main entrance. A myriad of corridors and hiding places await you above and the aliens that are within are often armed with the most devastating weapons; it’s not uncommon to see multiple blaster bomb carrying aliens on the upper floors. This combined with the sheer number of aliens can present a challenge that not even the best squads can handle with ease. That’s why we’re going to even the odds somewhat with something I haven’t tried before, creating an alternate way in.
The smaller UFOs can have a hole blasted through the roof as a consequence of them crashing, allowing a flying suit equipped soldier to enter in a way the aliens might not be anticipating. The larger UFOs don’t have that happen as the power generators are on the ground floor. We couldn’t blast through the outer hull of the alien vessels before but now that we’re armed with blaster launchers, we can do just that. How that’ll be advantageous to us you’ll see in this mission, though if it’ll level the playing field enough that we won’t struggle is another matter entirely.
