Let's Try: Grid Miner
Grid Miner is, at it's core, a puzzle game. It talks about itself as if it has RTs elements, but in essence it's a tile-placing puzzle game with gravitational puzzle elements, as well as resource management. Also every level has a timer just to stress you out.
Or maybe that's just me.
I gotta say I really dig the visuals and the music this game's got going. It's all very pretty. The building aspect is mostly straight-forward, though the hot key for removal didn't seem to be working for me. I kind of wish that the build menu was either along the bottom of the screen or collapsable, because i found it was getting in the way in bigger levels. I also wish there was some sort of alert when you cap your resources. The number of times I had to restart levels because I didn't realize my storage had capped out... well it was a lot.
My nitpicks aside, this is really interesting game. Each level can be solved in a number of ways. You can brute-force a lot of them (as I demonstrated by refusing to use a lot of the tiles), but there are obviously more elegant solutions available, and you're not restricted from trying different things out.
I believe right now it has only 10 levels, but I can see more coming down the line. Maybe community maps are in the future. That would be interesting. Regardless, it's only a couple dollars, so the risk ceiling on this game is very low. I suggest giving it a spin and having a couple hours of space puzzle fun.
