This is the longplay of the game Twinkle Tale, an action-packed shoot 'em up game released exclusively for the Sega Mega Drive in 1992, developed by Wonder Amusement Studio and published by Toyo Records.
The game takes place in the fantasy world of Alpherion, where the player takes control of Saria, a young girl apprentice to a mage, on a journey to rescue the great mages of her land from their captivity and recover the powerful gemstones from the evil hands. black sorcerer Gadou, who summoned the Kaiser Demon to bring chaos to the land of Alpherion and the world. With her master's teachings, Saria must travel across Alpherion to stop Gadou's evil plans.
Twinkle Tale follows the traditional shoot 'em up formula, where players control a character on the screen and shoot down waves of enemies, with a boss at the end of each stage. The game is completely seen in aerial view, the character Saria shoots projectiles of three types: a linear projectile that causes a lot of damage but needs to be aimed manually, a shot of magic stars that reach practically the entire screen and a power where the heroine shoots shots that chase enemies, but deal less damage. In addition to these basic attacks, Saria has two other powerful spells, very similar to the smartbomb in other games of the genre: three large energy balls that chase enemies around the screen and a huge fire attack, which hits all enemies and both are very Useful. Saria has a life meter, which increases her capacity with each stage passed. If the player is hit by an enemy, she loses life and also loses one level of the equipped spell. Switching weapons and using them in different situations is crucial to winning.
The game has very beautiful graphics and a great soundtrack, in addition to being very frantic. Twinkle Tale is a good game, but it was officially released only in Japan and only through fan-translation we were able to play the game in English and understand the story, which, although simple, is quite captivating. It is possible to play on Easy, Normal, Hard and Super Hard levels.
