This is the longplay of Tom and Jerry, an action and plataform game developed by Riedel Software Productions and distributed by Hi-Tech Expressions and released in 1993 for Super Nintendo in US, Japan and Europe.
The game has almost no plot and the same is only told in the manual in a few sentences. The player controls Jerry the mouse, and must travel from a movie theater to his home, while trying to avoid being captured by Tom the cat. There are 12 stages, which are divided into four sets of three and each of these sets has its own theme. The objective of the game is to reach the end of each level, and at the end of the third it is necessary to face Tom.
The controls are simple: the B button is for jumping and the A, Y and X buttons are for shooting green marbles, which look like peas. The buttons shoot the marbles and projectiles in different directions (upwards or downwards). Enemies range from insects, toy robots and even sentient fruits and vegetables and the boss is always Tom the cat, changing only the way he appears in the stages. The jumps are not difficult to execute, however if it is necessary to jump higher a bit of luck and/or momentum is needed, as these same jumps are imprecise and difficult to execute consistently. Every 100 cheesebits collected gives an extra life and larger chees wedges restore health. The marbles always respawn in the same place, while the 1-UP item (which gives an extra life) is rare and only has two in the entire game. There is also a two-player mode, but it is nothing more than a single-player experience with alternate player moves. In two player mode, the second player plays as Tuffy, (apparently Jerry's nephew).
The game has few songs, one is the theme of the cartoon and the others are very generic songs, the game controls are far from bad, but they are not good either. Although it was released right after the Tom and Jerry movie in 1992, the game has nothing to do with the movie. It's just a basic, generic platform game, which unfortunately lacks the chases that Tom does on Jerry in the cartoon. The video was made by collecting all the cheesebits, cheese wedges and extra lives in the game (I tried to do this to give the video more variety).
