This is the longplay of the game Mega Man: The Sequel Wars, action and platform game released for the Sega Genesis in May 2023, developed by Woodfrog (@woodfrog9614, @sequelwars5870), programmer and game developer. This is Episode Red, which contains the Mega Man IV game.
Mega Man: The Sequel Wars is a fan-made homebrew remake of Mega Man 4, 5 and 6 for the Sega Genesis, following in the footsteps of the officially released Mega Man: The Wily Wars (collection containing Mega Man 1, 2 and 3). The idea for Sequel Wars is to make Mega Man 4, 5 and 6 in the same style as Wily Wars, as Capcom had not made that sequel at the time.
The game is not a hack, but a homebrew, having been made entirely from scratch. Many features have been added to this game: two modes (Default, with rearranged sounds and unique effects when defeating bosses, and Purist, with the entire game as close as possible to the soundtrack and graphics of the Wily Wars version), as well as various settings, such as level difficulty (easy, with items dropping more frequently and damage lower, normal and hard, with items rarely appearing and enemies doing more damage), in addition to others that allow you to play the game in a more original way or use cheats, such as infinite ammo, all weapons from the beginning, use double jump or air dash, charge shot style and even weapons from later versions (which will be released soon).
In addition to playing with Mega Man, there is also the possibility of playing with Protoman (capable of reflecting enemy shots with the shield, but with less resistance to damage) and Roll (which uses close-range attacks with the broom), in addition to Man ( that nothing more is that Mega Man without the chest, but only with head and legs and that also applies to the bosses).
Mega Man: The Sequel Wars is undoubtedly a wonderful remake and the realization of the dream of making more Mega Man games for the Sega Genesis with the same style as Wily Wars. For a long time this was just a dream and it has come true. The game is not only a remake, but it is also full of new things, new graphic effects and much more accurate gameplay. This is Episode Red, which includes the game Mega Man IV, with the same plot as the NES but the graphic and sound characteristics of the Sega Genesis. Even though we only have the MM4 it shows the incredible work that has been done. The developer is to be congratulated. The other games will be released in the future and we will all be waiting for that. The video was recorded with Mega Man at Normal level and Protoman and Roll at Easy level (to slightly increase the drop rate of items and avoid excessive grinding, making the video a little more dynamic). The video was made in Purist mode (closer to the Sega Genesis). I also left the settings in order to be more faithful to Mega Man IV.
