9Let's Play Loop Hero, the game where no matter whether you live or die, the future refuses to change. It's the end of the world and all you can do is try to reconstruct it piece by piece while traveling along a narrow path of vanishing memories. No one knows you. No one recognizes you as anything other than a threat or a figment of time long past. How long has the world been destroyed exactly? And how many worlds? No one knows for sure. Time, in the loop, is relative. This is all entropy now.
In this series of streams and videos we are going to work our way through Loop Hero, one of my favorite games I played in the Steam Winter Showcase. It's very different but a lot of fun. It puts a lot of new ideas out there and packages it with a great soundtrack and beautiful yet utilitarian graphics. I did beat the demo but managed not to spoil much else for myself -- still, I'm starting with a fresh save and the "annoying" tutorial because it does give some back story. Enjoy!
Loop Hero is another indy hit in the making for publisher Devolver Digital. Four Quarters has really knocked it out of the park here, with a game that is part auto-battler part city builder part roguelite and part story driven madness. And yet together it's all more than the sum of its parts. The graphics are gorgeous and modern in their 2D glory. The game play is intense despite being able to pause in a way I haven't felt since FTL: Faster Than Light. It's good. Go get Loop Hero.
