Pushing Through Adversity - Curse of the Dead Gods 1.0 - Let's Play #12
Time for more Curse of the Dead Gods, where once again we don our mouse and keyboard (for entirely different reasons) to take on two Event Dungeons. The reason it's two is because one of them did not go so well, but instead of just stopping and giving up I took it as a learning opportunity to try again and do a little better. Over time I am improving at this game. I'm not "there," yet, but almost every run I get a little closer.
Curse of the Dead Gods is a game that has taken me by surprise and left Early Access on February 23, 2021. This is an action roguelike with a top down isometric view that borrows systems from a lot of different games. Enjoy permanent progression from Hades? Got it. Enjoy a Slay the Spire style map where you can plan ahead on your run? It's in the game. Methodical combat involving limited stamina similar to the Fromsoft Souls games? Absolutely. How about torch management like in Darkest Dungeon? You didn't even know you wanted that in this game, but you do. There's even a whole Corruption system that most will compare to Darkest Dungeon, but to be honest in implementation it feels a lot more like Eternal Darkness. The thing that gets me though? It all works, and works very well.
