Magna Bragan - The Wandering Knight is an Jrpg for the Super Nintendo/Famicom, released in 1994. The game was Developed by Lenar, and Published by ASK. The English Fan-Translation patch was released in 2013 by King Mike's Translations.

STORY: 14/20
Three wannabes who fail at the annual arena knight battles are suddenly made Knights and are tasked with bringing down the evil that corrupts this world from another dimension. Can these three drunken dimwits actually save the World? It's quite a comical story of misadventures.. LOL!

GRAPHICS: 8/20
Yeah, not the best of graphics, it's colorful but well.. the look of them makes the game look very old, older than 1994. Spells and skills all look dated and very little in ways look. monsters look okay along with the battle characters you kind of control. Menu design is absolutely gross and seriously needs reworking.

SOUND: 14/20
The game's OST is quite nice, I liked it but there is tracks that get used a bit too often in different places. There's a ton sound effects for spells, skills, attacking, dying, and nearly everything else that should have SFX. None of the OST or SFX got annoying for me but then I only played for an hour(ish) so it might start to annoy a little later on. I have heard much better OST on other games that are older than this so I don't think much effort was put into this sound wise, but it's still better than the gameplay.

GAMEPLAY: 5/20
Travel the world as usual going from town to town buying gear and moving on. The grind for Gold is real in this game and takes a long time to get whats needed for items. There's a weird mechanic in place when moving that if you walk into a wall and still try to move it carries you onward in a different direction, I absolutely HATE this mechanic. Now, for the worst of it, the battles are totally automated, all you do is set the attack styles in the TACTICS menu and in battles just let them at it. You CAN however change tactics during battles so I suppose that's something at least. Saving is done at churches, much like some other games on the system. There's plenty of bag space in this game, that's probably because the game is so hard going on grind you need it for healing items. I dunno, for some people they will like this type of battle system, for me it's just not engaging enough and make's the game feel more like a walking SIM.

TRANSLATION: 16/20
It's not bad but it uses a god damn awful font for text, luckily there's another patch that you can apply to this to change that to something easier readable. I didn't spot any spelling mistakes during my hour or so of playing, no text overflow and such. The writing seems okay and comical butt his just might turn people off 'cos it does seem lighthearted.

OVER ALL: 57/100
It's not a bad game if you can get used to how it plays, and the lack of anything graphical. It's a tough one to grind out so the use of PAR cheats will probably be required if you decide to try this out. Do I recommend it? Well, if you're a die hard Jrpg fan and NEED to try all SNES Rpg games then yes but otherwise.. i'd skip this one.
