A playthrough of Tengen's 1993 Japanese-exclusive arcade port for the Sega Mega Drive, Marble Madness.

The Japanese port was handled by Atari, whereas the American version was done by Electronic Arts. As you might expect, the Japanese version is the superior one in just about every conceivable way. It's insanely difficult (just like the real arcade version - this one took me forever to get good at), but the graphics are more arcade-faithful and more smoothly animated, the sound is pretty well done (the EA version's tunes were almost painful to listen to), and it even supports adjustable simulated trackball control if you attach a Mega Mouse.

It's a MUCH better game that is really hard to come by compared to its official American counterpart, but it's worth looking for. Even given my nostalgic predisposition to the NES game, I have to say this is my favorite (not emulated as part of a collection) console version.

Funny, though, how the first screen says Sega Genesis. I can only imagine it was their intention to bring this version here at some point? Too bad that wasn't the case.
