This basics video tutorial shows you how to make a fire bar you may have seen in mario games in GameMaker Studio.

The idea is quite simple. Have rotating sprites on one line that rotates slower. And that is pretty much it. To get there loop in the draw event as many times as you have set fireballs to have and get the positions of all fireballs by using lengthdir_x/lengthdir_y.
