Ahead of the Edo and Ondo states Governorship elections scheduled for September and November 2024, the National Security Advisor, Nuhu Ribadu has assured Nigerians of a hitch-free electoral process.
The NSA gave the assurance at the meeting of the Inter Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security held at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.
Represented by the Director in charge of Internal Security, NSA office, Mallam Ribadu indicated plans of massive security deployment to both states, saying there will be no room for lapses.
Also the Commissioner of Police, Election planning and monitoring Force Headquarters, Basil Idegwu who represented the Inspector General of Police at the meeting expressed the commitment of the force to partner with other security agencies to identify and provide maximum security especially in all flash locations in the 2 states.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu commended the efforts of security agencies in ensuring violence Free elections but however task them on early preparations for the forthcoming off circle Governorship polls.
The need for further engagement with the security agencies and other members of ICCES was further hyped at the meeting.
