Max Payne 3 - out of bounds in Chapter 7-2
17A simple out of bounds and some OoB exploration from this area.
0:00 - Using intro delay, Max regains movement early in the intro and can walk back where he came from before the game blocks that direction.
This OoB area is not very big, it's just a small corridor that eventually ends in a free fall. However, for a reason or another Max is currently in a state where he won't die hitting the bottom of the map, much like during Checkpoint 0. This lets you start "respawn flying" and you can theoretically access much later parts of the level early this way. Disclaimer: it probably wouldn't be useful, and also, testing this stuff is a pain in the ass.
But I did get some results, at least...
0:31 - one of my earlier tests dropped Max inside a building near the party site, where he couldn't get out again.
0:45 - another test dropped Max back in bounds where the level starts from in a comical looking way, and he was stuck afterwards. Perhaps he was inside walls a bit.
0:59 - after some more tests, Max ended up on a roof almost overlooking the party site. Miraculously, I managed to get off the roof and back in bounds without dying, and could examine the normally cutscene-only party site a little closer. However, for some reason approaching it like this made it become quiet and bereft of life. It seems no matter what, Max is destined to not be able to party.
3:07 - continuing deeper into the cutscene-only area, the graphics and level streaming start acting up a bit.
3:54 - I didn't fully get it on tape, but walking off the ledge to where Checkpoint 3 would normally begin drops Max inside a pocket of collision where he remains stuck forever. It's still not conclusive whether or not you could reach Checkpoint 3 from here. I would have tried it again, but after several more attempts at respawn flying I didn't get back to party site again, so... I gave up for now.
Anyway, retrying now sends Max back to Checkpoint 2 with things unloaded. The game will erroneously load the gate to block Max's path way sooner than it should, and as a result Max is automatically left out of bounds again.
4:16 - a bonus clip of Max falling and dying on the dance floor. The dancers don't even seem to notice the white gringo falling from the sky on them.
