You can skip half of Chapter 12-2 by activating future data after seeing the incinerator cutscene. Conveniently, you can buffer a future data *with* the incinerator cutscene.

Max appears at Chapter 12-3, but then falls down for some reason, then appears at Chapter 12-3 again. Then the Checkpoint begins like normal. This skips a decent length of running as well as an non-skippable cutscene where Max rides the elevator.
