Just when you thought I wouldn't fall any further down the rabbit hole, you sink further and further into the abyss with no end, lmao.

I might be done with Meegah Mem II, however, there is a big ol' elephant in the room that I know exists and has to be done to complete the circle. People of all types, welcome to the first game that started it all: the very first Meegah Mem made by the mind that made up Crapcom. And oh boy, this game makes Meegah Mem II look like a top 10 game of all time (imo)... at least the MS-Paint graphics and the glorious kazoo work remains intact. I will say that regardless of my thoughts on the game, I still enjoy the absolute stupidity of these games. It just connects with me. However, I will say that the first game does feel worse than the second, but that's just me.

I could write a college-level term paper on what's wrong with this game compared to the sequel. However, the long and short of it are that the physics feel legit worse, your pea shooter could lock up, and your buster and weapons are assigned to different buttons (of which your milage may vary on this one, but in terms of your typical Mega Man muscle memory, this is particularly glaring). Amazingly enough, though, there are *less* softlock risks in this game compared to the sequel, but they do exist in some stages.

On the other hand, there are some decent features here. There is no pause function, but you can swap weapons with the caveat that you can only swap in one direction and can't swap backwards. Each transition will fill your health, so with the stages being as abbreviated as they are, as soon as you finish the stage and reach a boss, everything is filled up. There is also no knockback when hitting enemies, so you can tank damage and go along your merry way. You still get insta-gibbed by instant death traps though regardless of invincibility like in source... for better or worse. So there are a few things that are a little better in this game compared to the original that the game is based on.

As to wonder why this is so short? Well, I won't spoil things. Unless you've already seen this game before, you'll have to watch and see why this was such a brisk playthrough. That said, this could have been at least a 4:3X. While there were mistakes here and there, the "Willey Masheen's" second phase could have been done faster. That's the only real issue really worthy of note. Regardless, I'm considering this game a "one and done" speedrun. If anyone wants to try to run this, by all means, give it a shot, but I'm just doing this to complete the full Meegah Mem circle.

As to where to get it, if you're that morbidly curious, I'm going to leave that for you to find out. I don't suggest getting the copy from Game Jolt. It's broken... I'll just leave it there. In spite of that, there is a working copy out there that is fully playable. To lead you on your way toward playing it, I'll hint this: it's connected with getting Meegah Mem II on Steam (I'm actually serious on this). With that, as per the usual, enjoy the video, and if there are any questions (that's not where's a playable Meegah Mem 1), feel free to ask. Take care.
