Wow, we're halfway through the Mega Man NES series already! The 'Mega Man' series really took off after 'Mega Man 2', but its second installment remains the most successful game in the original series. However, the lasting influence of MM2 is still evident in the third game of the series: 'Mega Man 3'. After the addition of the 'E-Tank' in MM2, this game added to the gameplay by introducing the ability to slide.

This game is longest of the originals for NES. By comparison, the first Mega Man game has 10 stages (six Robot Masters and four stages of Wily's fortress). The second game had eight Robot Masters, followed by six stages of Wily's fortress, for a total of 14 stages. MM3 has eight Robot Masters, four 'Dark Master' stages where you must face the eight Robot Masters from MM2 (the only game in the original series that does this), one quick fight against Break Man and then six relatively quick stages of Wily's fortress, for a grand total of 19 bot-battling stages!

This game is also unique in that it has two separate tracks for the boss order of the first eight stages. In the first two games, all you had to do was manage to beat just one Robot Master with the mega buster, gain their weapon and then proceed to the Robot Master who's weak against that weapon. In this one, you'll have to manage to beat two Robot Masters without using their true weakness, as three of them are only weak to each other's weapons (Needle Man, Snake Man, Gemini Man).

The hardest part of the game was definitely beating the first of those three, along with the Robot Masters from MM2. The stages for Wily's fortress were brief and fairly easy, along with their bosses, that posed no major challenge.

Top Man - Mega Buster (real weakness is Hard Knuckle)
