Donkey Kong 3 - (NES) - Gameplay
'Donkey Kong 3' is the fourth and final Donkey Kong game for the NES. So just to recap, in 'Donkey Kong', DK was the bad guy who captured Pauline. In 'Donkey Kong Jr.', DK got a taste of his own medicine and got captured by Mario but was then saved by Jr. In gratitude for saving him, he then helped Jr. with his math homework in 'Donkey Kong Jr. Math'.
And now finally in 'Donkey Kong 3', it looks like DK is back to being a jerk again. DK decides to break into a greenhouse and start some trouble. He does this by punching beehives and working up bees and other insects into a frenzy. But instead of attacking DK, which would be logical, the bugs seem intent on destroying the greenhouse flowers.
Mario died at the end of 'DK Jr.', so our protagonist is Stanley, the bugman. It's up to him to keep his prized flowers from being destroyed and simultaneously stopping DK. What's the most logical way to stop a giant gorilla? Dousing them with bug spray, obviously. The spray causes DK to move further up the vines he's holding onto. If Stanley is able to get DK high enough, he'll accidentally get his head stuck in a beehive and your flowers are safe.
Wacky premise aside, this is probably the most under-developed DK game. The other titles have at least a few levels that are somewhat different from each other. This one has maybe two and they're not really that different from one another. Oh well, nice to meet you Stanley.
