Mega Man 4 - (NES) - Full Playthrough
The blue bomber is back! And this time he's got a new foe: Dr. Cossack and a new team of Robot Masters to defeat. Building on the previous games, MM4 introduces the iconic 'mega buster', which allows Mega Man to charge up his arm cannon for an extra powerful blast. The delightful 'Flip-Top Eddie' is also first introduced in this game. Described by Dr. Light as 'a walking suitcase', Eddie appears periodically throughout the game to provide random recovery items.
I had this game as a kid, but I was never able to beat it, since they don't provide passwords after reaching Dr. Cossack's fortress. It's a bit shorter than MM3, which we saw is the longest game in the NES series. This time around, the game starts with the eight Robot Masters, followed by four stages of Dr. Cossack's fortress and finally four stages of Dr. Wily's fortress. Supposedly, the following Mega Man games for NES continue this format. Let's see if that's true once I play MM5 & 6.
By far, the hardest stage is the penultimate one: you must fight all eight of Cossack's Robot Masters and then proceed to fight Wily's robot, which has two forms. The final boss is also a bit of a challenge, due to how much damage it can cause and the randomness of its movements. But you can clinch it after a couple of tries and a charged up Pharaoh Shot.
